Sundays at Hinshaw
Worship (11:00 AM)
Our worship is every Sunday at 11:00 AM. All are welcome and invited! We don't like to label what kind of service our worship is other than it is uniquely ours and represents the gifts and interests that God has given us. We have an organist, pianist, bell choir, and worship band. Some Sundays we even bring in guest musicians including wind and brass instruments. We sing hymns and non-traditional music with a variety of musical accompaniment. Some folks dress up, some folks do not. Putting aside any popular terms such as "contemporary", "traditional", or "blended" our service is simply focused on a sincere participation of worshipers, inspired by the Holy Spirit, in communion with one another, in a spirit of praise and thanksgiving.
During each service there is a brief children's message where the children are asked to come down front. There is also a nursery available.
9 AM Class
If you like to get your Sunday started early the 9 AM Class may be just for you. This class meets every other Sunday at 9:00. They meet in the first classroom on the right, upstairs in the Education Building. Studies are chosen around current themes and relevant topics for today. This is the newest class in our ministry and is welcoming new friends often. Be on the lookout for the latest study which this class has to offer.
The Asbury Class (9:45 AM)
The Asbury Class meets Sunday mornings from 9:45 – 10:45 in the Fellowship Hall. The class roster numbers from 20 to 25 persons. Our class studies the International Lesson series. This series presents stimulating lessons that explore the biblical message and how to apply it to our daily lives. Each study moves from focusing on the Word of God to reflection on personal, family, church, and community concerns.
We currently have three persons who alternate facilitation of the class. Fifty percent of our offering is utilized for spontaneous mission giving and local church projects. We serve at the Potter’s House of the Greensboro Urban Ministry once a month. We are always excited to have new persons join us.
The DISCIPLE Class (9:45 AM)
The DISCIPLE Class meets Sunday mornings from 9:45 – 10:45 in the classroom on the right hallway behind the sanctuary. The class roster numbers around a dozen, and our average attendance is 8-10. It is a diverse group of persons who love a lively discussion! We have been studying the Cokesbury quarterlies for the past 3 years, but have completed other studies, such as the Disciple series and Rick Warren’s Purpose Driven Life. The group is fortunate to have six persons who alternate facilitation of the class. Fifty percent of our offering is utilized for spontaneous mission giving and local church projects. We have supported church capital improvements, our Preschool Program, the Heifer Project, and church members with special needs. When class members were asked to describe the class, the following responses were given:
- Bible study
- Friendship
- A loving, caring, and sharing group
- Discussions that are relevant to our lives
- Mission-oriented
The class eagerly welcomes newcomers!
Children's Sunday School (9:45 AM)
Hinshaw is blessed with dedicated folks who are committed to the children of Hinshaw. Even though many in our fellowship have seen their children age out of children's ministry, these folks have continued to support the needs of today's generation. As our church grows and as more children come into our fellowship so does our need to support this important ministry. We are thankful for the dedication of our teachers but we are also open to those who are willing to serve in this valuable ministry. If you are interested in helping with the children's ministry please contact Jim Waynick (299-6330).
